The Person of Jesus

Let's look at the life of Jesus in the 4 Gospels.

Jesus in the Scriptures.

John 5:39-40  “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”

Jesus spoke like no other man.

Luke 4:32 “They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority.”

John 7:45-46 “Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?” 46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied.”

Jesus forgave sins on earth.

Mark 2:7, 10-11 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Luke 7:47-50  “Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” 48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” 50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Jesus healed every kind of disease.

Matthew 4:23 “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”

Matthew 15:30-31 “Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.”

Mark 6:56 “And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.”

Jesus cast out evil spirits and demons.

Matthew 8:29 “And they cried out, saying, “What business do You have with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

Mark 5:6-7 “Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; 7 and shouting with a loud voice, he *said, What business do You have with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”

Jesus rebukes the winds and the waves.

Mark 4:39-41 “And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, “Why are you]afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who, then, is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Jesus feeds thousands.

If a single person were to fulfill just 8 out of the 300 prophecies, the probability would be incredibly small — something like 1 in 10 to the 17th power. The probability of fulfilling 48 prophecies is even smaller, around 10 to the 157th power. This number is so large that it's far beyond our ability even to visualize—it's much larger than the number of molecules in the entire universe.

No prophecy about Jesus is less than 400 years old - Genesis is 3,000 years before Jesus came, Psalms are 1,000 years before Jesus came, Isaiah is 700 years before Jesus came, Daniel is 500 years before Jesus came, Malachi is 400 years before Jesus came, etc.
