Evangelism Resources

ANSWERING THE WHY IN WHAT YOU BELIEVE

What is Evangelism?

Evangelism comes from the same Greek word for gospel (euangelion) and means, literally, “gospeling.” When we evangelize, we are spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Romans 1:16, Paul says, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

How often do you share the Gospel?

The Gospel is the only message that gives complete Forgiveness, Love, Joy, Peace, Hope, and a Relationship with God because of what Jesus did for us, not what we can do for ourselves.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

John 3:16-18

Religion without Redemption has no Relationship; Religion without a Relationship has no Redemption.

Questions for Unbelievers to Consider

  • "13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

    Psalm 139:13-16

  • Sin

"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Sin is anything you think, say, or do that goes against God's law. Whether in Hebrew or Greek, sin means "to miss the mark," affecting everything we do.

    We cannot forget it.

    We cannot sell it.

    We cannot bury it.

We cannot blame someone else for it.

It is ours and ours alone.

    (See also Galatians 6:7)

  • Forgiveness

Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

  • A Creator; God is the Maker of heaven and earth.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. 5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth." Psalm 19:1-6 1

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." Hebrews 1:3

"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him." Colossians 1:16-17

  • Look who came to redeem you so he can have you and walk with you and spend eternity with you: Jesus.

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God." John 1:12-13

    • (Jesus lived a life that you cannot live - Hebrews 4:15)

    • (Jesus died a death that you cannot die - Hebrews 10:12 )

    • (Jesus rose from the dead which you cannot do - John 10:18)

  • No, he puts you to sleep, and when you wake up, it's all done.

"At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." --Titus 3:3-7

  • Why are they so great?

What did they do for you?

How long did that effect last?

Jesus is the answer to all of these questions because of who He is and what He has done and that He is the Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the End, The first and the Last. (Revelation 1:8, 21:6, 22:13 )

  • Who comes to mind? Your father? Mother? Brother? Sister? Friend?

They can only love you and you can only love them while you or they are alive or until that relationship ends with death, but Jesus Christ love for you Last for Eternity, Time without end. Forever and Ever.

  • God is love.

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." 1 John 4:16

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:13

  • If nobody loves you in this whole world for your entire life - The Cross of Jesus Christ speaks loud and clear that He loves you more than anyone ever has and ever will--to the point of suffering death on a Cross to give you everlasting life in Eternity if you Believe in Him.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2

"Then I saw 'a new heaven and a new earth,' for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:1-4

  • "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

  • God is your Ultimate resource in times of need and trial.

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

  • We sin in three different ways: Thought, Word, and Deed.

We cannot fix ourselves, clean ourselves, or erase one sin from our past. But Jesus can and is more willing to forgive you, clean you through and through, give you a new heart, and place His Spirit in you so that you will love and obey His commands.

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws." Ezekiel 36:26-27

"Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.' 4 'How can someone be born when they are old?' Nicodemus asked. 'Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!' 5 Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.'" John 3:3, 5-8

    1. Financial Health? Mark 8:36-37

    2. Spiritual Health? 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

    3. Physical Health? Long life

If you choose Financial Health (money), you would be like Steve Jobs, the owner of Apple, a multimillionaire who could not buy another day and never knew Jesus.

If you choose Physical Health, you will be financially and spiritually poor.

If you choose Spiritual Health, then you have chosen correctly because with Spiritual Health, you have all that you need to endure whatever comes your way in this life.

    • Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose..."

    • Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

  • Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship with God.

Religion is trying to please God with our own works. Christianity is a relationship with God based on what He has done for us in our place.

You do not have a religion with your wife or kids, do you? You have a relationship with them, same with God; you have a relationship through Jesus Christ.

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

    • There is no calling out for forgiveness after you die.

    • There is no Purgatory in the Bible.

    • There is no Praying someone else into Heaven.

    • There is no one Praying you into Heaven.

    • There is no Praying through any saint.

    • There is no Praying through Mary.

Romans 2:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

  • We have all tried to change a lot of things in our lives, but sometimes with no success. The world tries to change you on the outside but the Word of God changes you on the inside to shine out.

God tells you to come to Him as you are and He will do the rest.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

  • We all make choices everyday, but this choice lasts for Eternity.

1 Corinthians 1:18  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Romans 1:16-17  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith."

  • 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

    Acts 17:26-27

    For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
    14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
        your works are wonderful,

6 Tips to Help You Know and Memorize The Bible

  1. LISTEN to the Bible (sermons about the Bible).

  2. READ the Bible (study the scriptures).

  3. WRITE the scriptures to remember the scriptures.

  4. MEDITATE on the scriptures throughout the day (answering questions with the scriptures).

  5. APPLY the scriptures to your life by Grace (walking with God daily).

  6. TELL others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (being used by God).

Think different. Do different. Live different.

Remember that you were saved by Grace, are kept by Grace, and changed daily by Grace

Tell others they can have this same Grace, which only comes through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection from the dead.
