History of the Hebrew Israelites (Black Judaism)

1. They began in the late 1880’s

2. Claiming that 1 person had been given a Revelation - F. S. Cherry

3. In 1886 Frank Cherry and in1896 William Saunders Crowdy

4. They got a Revelation from God - sounds like Mormons and Muslims 

5. They claim to this day that they are receiving New Revelations and fulfilling prophecy

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

1 Timothy 4:1-5 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

The Beginning of the movement:

• Frank Cherry a self-declared Prophet started a “Black Jew” church in Chattanooga Tennessee

• He preached that white people were inherently evil and that they were hated by God

• Cherry instructed his followers the earth was square

• Cherry prophesied that Jesus would be returning in the year 2000 to install blacks over whites through a race war

• Cherry relocated his congregation to Philadelphia in 1915

• He was far less popular than non-racist Black Judaism founders like the Rev. William Christian and William Saunders Crowdy

• Overtime, the movement diversified, with some groups focusing on returning to Hebrew traditions and others adopting more extreme interpretations 

• They divide the races and do not unit the races 

Like Mormons and Muslims somebody said they got a Revelation from God and here we are.

Scripture says in Galatians 1:6-9  I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

Some of what they claim and Believe:

That Claim Jesus was Black - Scripture says in Revelation 1:14-16 The hair on his head was WHITE like wool, as WHITE as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His FACE WAS LIKE THE SUN SHINING IN ALL ITS BRILLIANCE. (Somehow they get that Jesus was black from this)

1. They quote Deuteronomy 28:68 - and try to link it with the Atlantic Slave Trade (The Scripture says v. 68  The LORD will send you back in ships to EGYPT on a journey I said you should never make again. There you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, BUT NO ONE WILL BUY YOU. (That does not line up with the Atlantic Slave Trade)

2. They ignore the Holocaust of the Jews in WW2 past and present evidence 

3. They argue The City of Jerusalem in History and location

4. They deny History and try to re write it to fit their narrative which does not fit 

5. They Believe that King James was a Black man - but records show He was A CAUCASIAN man - King of Scotland 1567, King of England and Ireland from 1603 and spoke up to 10 languages 

6. They teach that the King James 1611 Bible is the best and authoritative translation even over the Greek manuscripts that we have and from which it was translated from, The Textus Receptus - The received Text

7. They are Anti Semitic but yet claim they are Semitic - That Makes no sense Revelation 2:9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 

8. Their 12 Tribe Chart has been debunked by Historical, Genetic, Archaeology, Linguistic, Scriptural, Geographic evidence - They say that they are lost but show up in the book of Revelation 7

9. They pick and choose History when it works for them but not against their claims but only when it supports their narrative

10. They are a very angry, harsh, authoritative and ruling people with no Grace life in that group - No Love

11. They preach a RACE SALVATION and not A BY GRACE SALVATION TO HEAVEN - because scripture says in Revelation 7:9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from EVERY NATION, TRIBE, PEOPLE and LANGUAGE, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing WHITE ROBES and were holding palm branches in their hands.

12. They switch their heritage from Genesis 10 - the Hamites and want to be from the Shemites who were the Hebrews line comes from. Ham was cursed from there father Noah - But the Gospel knows neither Jew or Greek, Slave or Free, Man or Woman for all are one in Christ Jesus - Galatians 3:28

-They put a lot of trust into the King James Bible in 1611

- We have the 1560 Geneva Bible.

- We have William Tyndale (1494-1536) work into English

- The Latin Vulgate from Jerome (382 AD) they reject all modern translations

Then who translated the Old Testament into Greek in the 3rd century in 70 days by 70 Scholars which is called the Septuagint ?

They use the 14 Apocryphal books - Jesus never quoted from them or any of the New Testament writers

They Believe that all the great men in the Bible were of Black descent from Abraham until Jesus and the Apostles

They try to trace their heritage back to the 10 Northern tribes of Israel when they split under Rehoboam and the Northern tribes led by Jeroboam and Rehoboam led Judah and Benjamin in the Southern Kingdom

They will not listen to reason - They reject Historical information that we have today

• Historically

• Linguistically

• Genetically

• Archaeologically

• Scripturally

• Geographically

They reject the Gentiles - but yet all the Apostle Paul’s letters were written to Gentile congregations - All 13 of them

They preach RACE and not GRACE

They deny the Trinity

They deny Jesus being God - Romans 9:5  Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

They twist the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation

They are aggressive and jump all over the Bible when speaking with them - They are not quick to listen and slow to speak James 1:19-21 

1 Peter 3:15 …… with gentleness and respect

Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

John 13:34-35  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Luke 22:20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

They have very poor Hermeneutics - which is interpreting the Bible with the Bible

They say the Gentiles have no place - let’s look at the Ministry of Jesus in the Gospels and the Apostles:

• Isaiah 49:6 It is too small a thing for you to be my servant

    to restore the tribes of Jacob

    and bring back those of Israel I have kept.

I will also make you a light for the Gentiles,

    that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

• Look at Jesus ministry to the Canaanite woman a Gentile - Matthew 15

• Jesus goes to the Gadarenes to Gentile country Mark 5:1-20, 

• The Centurion in Matthew 8 

• Luke a Gentile who God chose to write The Gospel of  Luke and the Book of Acts was a Gentile 

• Peter, given an vision went to Cornelius a Gentile in Acts Chapters 10 and 11

• Paul the Apostle's entire ministry was to the Gentiles from Acts 13 and so on…

• What about Adam through Abraham before there was a Jew? People like Adam, Eve, Abel, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth, Melchizedek Job, Terah, Haran, Lot etc….

The Black Hebrew Israelites change There beliefs over time trying to cover all the holes in their Beliefs and History

They never speak about the Gospel, Sin or Love, Forgiveness, Sacrificing, Peace, Kindness, unity in Christ, being a slave of Christ, Servant etc..

How to reach them

1. Share the Gospel of all Grace through the person of Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 2:2 Jesus Christ and Him crucified

2. 1 Corinthians 1:18 The Gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing but to those who have Believed it is the Power of God

3. 1 John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

4. 2 Greatest Commandments - Love God and Love your neighbor

5. John 13:34-35  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

6. The Cross shows God’s Love for you no more and no less - Romans 5:8

7. Ephesians 2:8 We are saved by Grace through Faith not by works so that no man can boast

9. They cannot explain the Gentiles in Jesus blood line in Matthew and Luke

Adam, Eve, Caleb, Enoch Noah, Abraham, Seth Abel etc

Isogesis is interjecting into the Scriptures what is not there, and Exegesis is extracting out of what is there

They hate the white man but use all of his works to learn languages and divide with the color of ones skin tone

We are not white or black but all shades of clay - some lighter and some darker but in the image of God Genesis 1:27 

God decided when you would be born, your sex, skin color, your height, place, country, city, birth order - Why? so they would seek out and find God because He is not very far from anyone of us. Acts 17

They teach a works based salvation - ignoring Isaiah 64:6 filthy rages

2 Timothy 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They are Hypocrites 

They see nothing wrong with porn, language, anger, lack of love, rude, prideful, 

Matthew 20:25-28  Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
